Trying Something New

Learned a new technique today and, naturally, had to give it a shot right away. This technique was introduced to me by Tiffany at Hobble Creek Pottery on YouTube. The process starts by laying a stencil onto a very plastic greenware slab and rolling it in, pressing the design into the clay. Before removing the stencil, you paint the image with underglaze, letting the color settle into all those fresh lines and textures.

I couldn’t resist experimenting, so I made this super happy pineapple platter. Bright, playful, and full of possibility. I love moments like this, when learning something new immediately turns into making something joyful.

Clay keeps offering new paths to wander down, and I am more than happy to follow where it leads.
